The search for a new high school principal

January 2026
The posting will be made both internally and externally through websites, including, but not limited to, MASA, Ed Post and MSBA Broadcaster. This position plays a vital role in shaping school culture, supporting academic excellence, and guiding our district’s continued growth.

February 2026
All applications will be carefully screened to ensure each candidate aligns with the values, goals, and leadership needs of Delano Public Schools. This thorough review helps identify individuals whose experience, philosophy and strengths best support our students, staff, and school community.

• The superintendent and select personnel committee members will review application materials and credentials
• The HumanEx Ventures online profiler will be sent to approximately 10-15 applicants.
• The superintendent and select personnel committee members will select six to eight candidates for site interviews.

Feb. - March 2026
A site committee will interview selected candidates to provide valuable, multi-based perspectives. This step ensures diverse voices are involved in evaluating each candidate’s leadership style, communication skills and alignment with our district’s strategic plan. 

• The Site Committee will interview approximately six candidates.
• The Site Committee will recommend approximately three candidates to move forward as finalists.

March 2026

• An independent consulting firm will conduct a phone interview with each finalist.
• Information will be shared with the Superintendent, select personnel committee members and Administrative Committee members.
• The superintendent and personnel committee members will conduct reference checks on all finalists.
• Members of the personnel committee will review social media/professional online profiles.

March 2026

• The district administrative team will interview each of the finalists. 
• The district administrative team will consist of members from the Administrative Committee of the school board
• The Superintendent and representatives from the personnel committee will also participate in the interview team.
• The final three candidates will have the opportunity to tour the Delano Public Schools. 
• The Superintendent, representatives from the personnel committee and the Administrative Committee will reach consensus on the finalist.

April 2026

• The superintendent will inform the finalist of the decision regarding acceptance.
• A recommendation will be brought to the school board during a school board meeting.
