Deputy Olson visits Forensics class

Thank you to Senior Deputy Dean Olson from the Wright County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Investigation Unit for giving students in Ms. Bahe’s Forensics class an inside look at crime scene investigation. With 25 years of experience, Deputy Olson guided students through the step-by-step process of examining a crime scene, from the initial response to collecting and analyzing evidence. Students learned firsthand how fingerprints, DNA, skin cells, and even saliva can provide critical clues in solving cases.

New to Delano this year, the Forensics class introduces students to the science behind true crime and investigative work. Through lab work, students examine DNA, blood, hair, and other biological evidence to determine a crime’s perpetrator. Alongside hands-on experiments, the class incorporates lectures, projects, readings, assessments, and analysis of real crime events, giving students a deeper appreciation for the detailed work that goes into solving crimes.
